Javier Abarca

Javier Abarca es crítico, profesor y tipógrafo. Imparte desde 2006 una asignatura anual sobre arte urbano para la Universidad Complutense de Madrid en la Facultad de Bellas Artes del Ces Felipe II, Aranjuez. Puedes ver algunos de los resultados del curso aquí. Publica Urbanario, una colección de artículos de investigación y crítica sobre arte urbano. Testigo y participante del desarrollo del arte urbano desde los ochenta, su trabajo ejerció pronto un influjo decisivo en la evolución de la corriente en España. Es autor de la colección fotográfica Pifostio, una extensa serie que retrata la comunicación gráfica popular de la calle en Madrid. Puedes ver la colección aquí. Otros proyectos artísticos incluyen No compres, una campaña experimental de anti-publicidad subliminal a nivel de calle, y J’adore satan, una modificación en serie de rotulación pública. Javier escribe e imparte conferencias sobre arte urbano. Su espectro de trabajo incluye ilustración, consultoría tipográfica y música. Javier Abarca is a critic, educator and typographer. Since 2006 he has been teaching a yearly class on urban art for the Universidad Complutense de Madrid at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Ces Felipe II, Aranjuez. You can see some of the results of the course here. Publishes Urbanario, a series of articles of research and critique about urban art. Witness and participant in the development of urban art since the eighties, his work soon exerted a decisive influence in the evolution of the trend in Spain.
