Graffiti as calligraphy
Practical calligraphy workshop
7 March 2016
Faculty of Fine Arts UCM
Through a talk and a practical session, the workshop approached graffiti tagging as a form of calligraphy. As a tradition of stylised writing, with its characteristic formal conventions, tools, supports and uses.
The workshop took place at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid. It was part of a tightly scheduled seminar, therefore we only had time to scratch the surface of a very wide and interesting field.
The workshop was supported by Writers Madrid, who gave us markers and ink designed specifically for graffiti.
